Mark Staicer came to play music for us yesterday. His wife Brenda came, as well, and sang along with the residents. There was a lot of moving and grooving. Most of the residents were able to sing along with all the songs. Mark was very engaging and not only got our feet tapping and hands clapping but engaged our minds, as well, with trivia about some of the songs he sang. The music and Mark's prompts stirred up a lot of memories of good times. There was a full house for the performance and the residents are saying they can't wait to see Mark (and hopefully Brenda, too) next month.

Juanita was a joy to have around. She was always up for a good time. She worked hard in therapy and we're so proud of all her successes. We're going to miss seeing her smiling face but we're so happy she was able to go home
Abby from Lexington Schools came to volunteer today. She spent time in the memory care unit. She helped the residents choose from our many colors of fingernail polish and did some manicures. She also assisted with our craft. We did flower arrangements in the beautiful vases that Abby made. Abby helped with coffee hour and spent some time in the therapy department, as well. She was so kind and helpful to all the residents. The residents and staff loved spending time with Abby today and we're looking forward to seeing her again.
We dug out our parachute for exercise hour this week. The residents had a blast! They worked hard to keep the ball from falling off of the parachute. We exercised our muscles and our smiles! The laughter and joy was contagious. Some staff members had to join in on the fun! The bright colors of the parachute made us of think of sunshine, blue skies and flowers. We're anxious to take our parachute outside on a sunny, warm day!
Last week, we had our monthly birthday party for our residents. Melissa was fortunate that the party occurred on her actual birthday! We had five residents with March birthdays. After singing happy birthday, the residents enjoyed a little trivia about their birth years. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a cupcake and ice cream. The atmosphere was festive and all of us enjoyed honoring Melissa and our other special residents with March birthdays. We are thankful for all who attended!
Love and laughter filled the air at Liberty as our residents and staff came together to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a fun and festive party!
